Problem:

When trying to start Quickbooks, you get the small window that says, "Starting Quickbooks...". After a short time, this window disappears and then nothing happens - Quickbooks doesn't open.

I've seen this twice now. It happens because your .NET Framework has become corrupted. To fix Quickbooks, you need to uninstall .NET Framework 2.0, reinstall it, and then run a repair installation of Quickbooks. Chances are, if you try to uninstall .NET Framework from the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs applet, you'll get an error to the effect of, "verify the source exists and that you can access it". If not, count your blessings, because I have had to do this the long way both times I've fixed this problem. If you get that error, follow the steps outlined in my post on Manually uninstalling .NET Framework. It's the long way, but it'll get you there.

Hope it helps,
David
