New Remote Control Software Added To Remote Offerings
Link on both the Main Page and Support section of our site

Posted 8/14/2008, Updated 11/10/2008
In our continuing effort to enhance the speed and quality of service we give our clients, we are testing a new Remote Control Support offering. We currently employ several methods for providing remote support. For the servers we support, we set up LogMeIn Free. For those servers that run Small Business Server, we use LogMeIn or the Remote Web Workplace, depending on what the client has set up. From Small Business Server, we can Offer Remote Assistance to the client computers, or we can use Remote Desktop either through LogMeIn or Remote Web Workplace to gain access to the client desktops. So, we can get there as long as you are a Small Business Server client.

We can't provide remote support to client workstations don't have Small Business Server as the center of their network. To address this issue, we are testing new software from the Open-Source, Ultra VNC project called PC HelpWare. This software is supposed to allow us to take control of a user's computer after they download a small (376K) application from our site. We have only just this week set it up. We haven't tested it yet and would like to.

Hopefully, this will give us a way to do some onsite-type work without having to drive to you to do so.

Update

We've been using the software off and on and like it. It does what it's supposed to do: give remote access. Once this becomes something we can do often, we'll announce special pricing for those who are able to use it.

You can now find a link on the main page of our site, look for "Instant Help Software" in the left column for a direct download.
