When you upgrade to Windows Vista, it creates a folder called windows.old that contains your original Windows, Program Files, and Documents and Settings folders. If possible, you want to empty your Temporary Internet Files before installing Vista. If you wind up uninstalling Vista using the methods outlined in Uninstalling a Vista Upgrade it will be necessary to copy all that information from Windows.Old to the root folder. This can cause a problem if you are short on disk space.

Hope it helps,
David
