Church Donations Template
This Access 2000 database file is useful for helping your
church issues required IRS receipts. The database should be downloaded to
your hard drive and placed wherever you like. I recommend password
protecting your data, but this may not be required for you. When you
download the file, you'll have to rename its extension from .ZIP to .MDB.
This is easiest done by changing the name when you save the downloaded file. This change of filename was necessitated by our web hosting provider,
Web.com.
To use the database, first fill out the table called
Setup. This will tell the reports the name of your Church, your Treasurer,
and which calendar year this is. Don't change the field named "fldID", in
order for the reports to work, it must remain as the number 1.
After setup is filled out, simply start filling in the
data from the checks and other contributions received. The addresses table
should hold the addresses of everyone who ever gets a statement or receipt.
This can shorten the time required to enter the donation information. The
donations table is used to enter donations as they come in and will make use
of information in the addresses table if it has first been entered.
If not, you'll have to enter the individual's full name for each of his
donations.
Each week, you should run a "Single Donation Receipt"
report. The IRS requires a receipt to be given immediately for any single
cash donations of $250.00 or more. This report automates that process. At
the end of the year, run the "Donation Letters" report onto Church
letterhead. This will list and total all donations of any size entered for
all donors between the dates specified. Our treasurer signs this report and
we mail them (or hand them out) to the donors by January 31. This report is
NOT required by IRS, but is provided to assist our donors in preparing their
tax returns.
Please consult the IRS website, at
http://www.irs.gov for more information, as
their requirements change periodically. Specifically, see Publication 1771,
Charitable Contributions, Substantiation and Disclosure Requirements for
details.

Shipment Monitor
This is the latest version of Shipment Monitor that
includes the new report we added. It corrects a problem discovered in the "OpenDatabaseWithInsurance"
function that doesn't properly pass back the opened database when the
reports database can't be opened initially for whatever reason. Use the exe
download to
update your program installations as necessary. A workaround exists,
however, for this problem.
- On an affected machine, delete the C:\NETDATA folder.
- Run the Shipment Monitor.
- Click the Print Preview button. The program will
crash, but before it does, it will create the reports database.
- Rerun the Shipment Monitor, Print Preview should work
now.
After downloading the update, which just replaces the
existing "Shipment Monitor.exe" file in the Program Files folder, delete the
NETDATA folder. The particular Access database version for the Reports.MDB
file is important, that's why the Shipment Monitor program has the
capability to create this file itself. If the version is wrong, the program
will now delete and recreate database files located on the C: drive. The
limitation to the C: drive is so that the main production system database
doesn't get deleted.
It has been tested to ensure that Setup
doesn't bomb with the error we were getting. That error is documented at
Microsoft's Knowledge Base (Q208699 - PRB- Error "$(DllSelfRegisterEx) Could Not Be
Registered")
and is caused by the MSCAL.OCX file's dependency information. I have also
taken steps to ensure that the error does not recur. If you still have the
files on your server, you can just implement the fix contained in the
Knowledge Base article and install what you have. This also contains the
latest Late Shipments Report. The zip file contains the full setup package,
while the exe file contains just the Shipment Monitor program. Use the exe
version to update current setups, and the zip version to update your
installation point.
The knowledge base article above has been deleted, but the following articles

Production System
Previously, although the Production System
would run successfully under operating systems based on the Windows
Windows 9x kernel (Windows 95, 98, 98SE, and ME), attempts to run the program
under operating systems based on the Windows NT kernel (Windows 2000 and XP,
specifically) would fail with an Overflow error. This was due to an error in
the API (Application Programming Interface) call that forces the splash screen
to be the topmost window on the screen. It has now been fixed, and the
program runs correctly with all versions of Windows. To install this program,
simply have everyone exit the Production System, then rename the existing
file, and copy or download this file into its proper place.

Intel® Drivers
These links take you from our site to Intel's
website, and are provided for the convenience of our clients who have
purchased systems from us. If you're not sure which system board you
have, look at the box provided with your system. This box contains the
user's manual for all components in your system. If you've bought more
than one system from us and can't tell which box goes with which system, call
us at (877) 586-4082 or (903) 586-4082 and we'll be happy to assist, or click
here
for information from Intel on how to identify motherboards they've
manufactured.

Netgear Drivers
FA331 Network Adapter Driver
- Unzip this driver to a folder on your hard drive and then either copy the
contents of that folder to a diskette, or make a CD of the files you unzipped
(either one works well). Included are drivers for all versions of Windows from
Windows for Workgroups 3.11 through XP, SCO, Red Hat 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and 7.0,
Netware Client32 and Server, and MS-DOS. It also includes help files and
diagnostics. The diagnostics only run under MS-DOS. If you need a Windows Unzip
utility, try WinZip. By the way, this file
came from Netgear and is their intellectual property. I didn't write the
driver,
but the tech that sent it to me said he thought I could post it here
as long as I didn't take credit for creating it, so I'm not.
Diagnostic Software
Windows Memory Diagnostic - This
program creates either a diskette or a bootable CD-ROM image containing a
diagnostic program that will check memory, even to the point of identifying the
particular memory module that has failed. The program you download can create a
bootable diskette directly. If you create the CD-ROM image, you must burn that
image to a CD using a program like Nero Burning-Rom, Roxio, or NTI CD-Maker.
Simply copying the image file to CD will not create the image you'll need.
Adenix SMART Explorer - Use this program to check on the health of your hard
drive. It queries the SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and
Reporting Technology) parameters, allowing you to predict hard
drive failure. We highly recommend this program to all our clients,
especially those who've bought a computer from us. We further recommend using
this tool to test your drive at least monthly.
Intel Processor Frequency ID Utility - Ever wonder how fast your
processor is? If you have an Intel Processor in your computer, this software will give you the skinny on the technical details. This program
is for processors manufactured before introduction of the Pentium 4 (released in 2000).
Intel Processor ID Utility - The Intel® Processor Identification Utility was developed by Intel Corporation to identify characteristics of the processor inside a system.
In addition to displaying processor details, this tool provides a frequency test feature to determine if the processor is operating at the tested and rated speed marked on the processor.
Ultimate Boot CD for Windows - Many tools
that can help you diagnose several problems. Get this before you need it.
DIRMS defragmenter - Free Defragmenter that,
when combined with Buzzsaw, also on the same site, can accelerate your computer
by defragmenting your hard drive and keeping it defragmented. DIRMS-S
defragments your hard drive while Buzzsaw-S detects when files are being
fragmented and then defragments those files individually.

Deactivate Content Advisor
I've had several calls come in from time to time regarding
the Content Advisor. Its purpose is to provide parental controls for Internet
Explorer. It works OK, but the big problem comes when you forget the password.
If that fits your situation, then get the .REG file below. Feel free to look
at it before you run it. What this does is to delete all content advisor
settings present in the registry and then rebuild a blank entry. After you run
this file, just close and reopen Internet Explorer and your worries will be
over.

Amortization Schedule
In the more advanced Microsoft Excel classes we teach, we
create an amortization schedule. This is the finished version of that file,
including modifications that allow the amortization schedule to handle loans
up to 30 years and 6 months.
